Lydie Fuerte began learning the guitar at the age of eight with her first teacher, Nicolas Toniutti, who introduced her to flamenco, jazz and South American music. Several courses with guitarists from very different backgrounds broadened his musical horizons still further (Brazilian guitar with Celso Machado and Cristina Azuma and jazz improvisation with Christophe Lartilleux, for example). It was during an international guitar course that the illustrious guitarist-composer Roland Dyens advised him to enter the Toulouse Conservatoire immediately. This was followed by four years with teacher Laurent Vivet, who taught her rigorous technique and the pursuit of the instrument's sound quality. She was awarded first prize for classical guitar in 2OO6. Always passionate about flamenco, Lydie Fuerte worked on this art with the flamenco guitarist Vicente Pradal a few years later at the same conservatoire, and then with Kiko Ruiz. In 2012, she obtained her music studies diploma in traditional Flamenco guitar music. Over the years, she has helped to form a number of bands (Elya trio, Dyade), which have fuelled her experience of the live scene through a series of concerts, culminating in her being awarded the ‘Laureats 2011 Guitarist Acoustic’ prize. Today, enriched by her eclectic career, Lydie Fuerte devotes herself to her own universe, composing her own works. Around her guitar, she brings together several talented artists and offers audiences a new show called ‘UNA’. She has also been teaching for over 15 years in a number of music schools in Toulouse, and since 2007 at the EMEA (municipal art school) in Cugnaux. She adapts to each student, teaching them both classical guitar technique and improvisation, as well as arrangements, accompaniment and composition. Depending on their wishes and musical tastes, she creates unique arrangements for each student every month, based on pieces of their choice (film music, contemporary music). Each piece of music presents the challenge of adapting polyphonic playing to the instrument, so that the student can progress according to his or her level.
