Regulations of the interpretation contest of the Terra Siculorum International Classical Guitar Festival 7th edition

1. The competitors will come onto the stage in the alphabetical order, no matter the stage of the contest or the category

2. The members of the jury will mark the performance of each competitor with points from 10 to 100 taking into account the following criteria of evaluation:
• stylistic realization of the works
• quality of the sound
• technical accuracy
• degree of difficulty of the program
• artistic contribution
• stage presence

To the attention of the competitors
All the competitors from all categories are allowed to use the tuner

3. On the request of the president of the jury, the candidate can be interrupted
• if he/she exceeds the time limit allowed to him/her
• if the level of his/her performance is below the level requested for the category in which he/she competes

4. Members of the jury cannot evaluate their own students or members of their families participating in the competition (second degree family)

5. In order to make the evaluation as correct and objective as possible, the score is calculated for each competitor as follows:
• the highest and the lowest scores are excluded
• an average score is then calculated out of the scores given by the other jurors

6. The D category contest of the International Classical Guitar festival Terra Siculorum takes place in two distinct stages: in the second stage, will compete preferably a number of 7 competitors who have won at least 80 points in the first stage.

* In special cases and on request of the jury, the main organizer has the right to change the number of the contestants admitted in the final.
** The points are not transferred from one stage to another. In case of perfect equality, the candidates are separated on the basis of the results obtained in the first stage of the competition.

7. In this international contest the following categories of prizes are provided:
• 1st prize
• 2nd prize
• 3rd prize
• mention

* The jurors has the right not to provide certain prizes if they have objective reasons.
** For all competition categories, in special cases and on the suggestion of the jury, the prizes can be shared; the exception to this is the first prize of the D category (no age limit) which cannot be shared under any circumstance.

8. The decision of the jury is final.

INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION

Regulation of the International guitar competition

The competitions will be in Odorheiu Secuiesc / Székelyudvarhely » locate on the map.

The contest is open to all guitarists regardless of their age and will include two stages:
First stage – eliminatory: the contest programs will last for a maximum of 15 minutes and will include:
• A piece from Renaissance or Baroque
• Free program

Final stage: the contest programs will last for a maximum of 25 minutes and will include:
• A contemporary piece written after 1950.
• Free program

The contestants may participate both in the competition of their age Category and in the competition of the next age Category; in this case, the contestants will pay the participation fee for both Categories. The “length of the program” (or “the program’s duration”) is the time used on the stage by the contestant. The contestant will be interrupted by the Secretary of the jury, at the request of the President of the jury, if the length of the contestant’s program will exceed by more than one minute the total time specified by the Regulations. By applying to enter the competition, competitors shall assume responsibility for compliance with competition rules. The competitor’s succession in the contest will be determined in advance by the organizers, according to the master class schedule for each participant.

The jury’s decisions are final.

YOUNG GUITARISTS COMPETITION

Regulation of the Young guitarists competition

The competitions will be in Odorheiu Secuiesc / Székelyudvarhely » locate on the map.

The guitar contest will include 3 age categories:
A) participants that were born after April 14th, 2002
B) participants that were born after April 14th, 1999
C) participants that were born after April 14th, 1995 or participants that were born before April 14th and are still high school students

• For category A) the contest programs will be freely chosen and will last for a maximum of 10 minutes;
• For category B) the contest programs will last for a maximum of 15 minutes and will include minimum two musical pieces from minimum two various ages of creation;
• For category C) the contest programs will last for a maximum of 20 minutes and will include minimum three musical pieces from minimum three various ages of creation;

The contestants may participate both in the competition of their age Category and in the competition of the next age Category; in this case, the contestants will pay the participation fee for both Categories. The “length of the program” (or “the program’s duration”) is the time used on the stage by the contestant. Prizes for the Young guitarists competition:

The Jury has the right to select some of the best contestants of the Young Guitar Competition and offer them the chance to play before the concerts of important invited guests during the next Terra Siculorum International Classical Guitar Festival.
