ŞTEFĂNESCU-PĂTRAŞCU Cătălin

Catalin_STEFANESCU-PATRASCUCatalin STEFANESCU-PATRASCU was born in October 12, 1971, in Bucharest. He took his musical training at “George Enescu” Music Academy in Iasi, Romania (classical guitar, 1991-1996) and at National University of Music Bucharest (composition, 2002-2006).

In 2008 he receives the title of Doctor in Music, his research being focused on the performance of Baroque and Renaissance music on classical guitar.

In 1990 he wins the Grand Prize of Sinaia International Guitar Festival, and beginning with 1996 he is a Honorary Member of Romanian Guitar Foundation.

Catalin Stefanescu-Patrascu is now a Lecturer of Classical Guitar in the National University of Music Bucharest. He is also a member of various chamber music ensembles (Hesperus – guitar duo, Imago Mundi – ensemble of mediaeval and renaissance music).

His compositions are a important part of Romanian and foreign guitar players: Tarantella (1997), Ostinato (1998), Blue Suite (2006), Shadows (2009), Nocturna, for two guitars (2006), Sonata nr.2, for two guitars (2008), Tertine si catrene, for three guitars (2004), Concert no. 2, for guitar and string orchestra (2007).
