ZAMFIRESCU Stan
Being chosen as the best Romanian guitar player at the International Guitar Festival from Sinaia, Stan Zamfirescu appears to be one of the most promising talents of the young generation of Romanian guitar players.
He begins the study of guitar at 12 years old, in private, under the guiding of the professor Eugen Mang . When he is 15, he decides to attend the classes of Professor Liviu Georgescu, which he graduates with 10 each year! After graduating highschool as chief of the 2000-2001 promotion, he is awarded the Diploma of Excellence by the Ministry of Education and Research.
Stan Zamfirescu is the only Romanian guitar player that ever received the AVRSM Diploma (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music), with distinction. In December 2002, he passed an admission examination at the Royal Academy of Music, after which he was admitted, obtaining a scholarship (Entrance Scholarship) that however only covered a small part of the study taxes at this faculty.
Stan Zamfirescu won the first prize at all national and international competitions of this kind organized in Romania. He held concerts with orchestra on the most important stages in the country.
In 2004 he managed to win the Ist place at the International Guitar Festival from Sinaia and at the International Guitar Festival from Belgrade, and the IInd place at the International Guitar Festival from Iserlohn, Germany (also won in 2006) and at the International Festival from Tychy, Poland. Consequently, he was invited to hold concerts in Sweden (within Guitarissimo-Stockholm 2004), Italy (The International Guitar Festival Nicolo Paganini 2005- Parma), Poland in 2005 (Invited as the winner of the contest from Tychy), Spain (at the inauguration of the Cultural Institute from Madrid in 2006), Malaysia (MIGFEST-Ist Malaysian Guitar Festival in 2007) and Serbia (the GuitarArt Festival in 2008).
He was a member of the juries of the following contests: “Guitar Masters”, “The International Festival of the young guitar players Eduard Pamfil”, “The International Guitar Contest from Sinaia”, “Nicolo Paganini Guitar competition 2005”Parma and “MIGFEST finger style competition 2007” Malaysia.
In present, he is a scholarship doctorand and an associate professor at the National University of Music from Bucharest ( he graduated in the 2006 promotion with an average of 9.80) and a guitar professor at the “George Enescu” music highschool from Bucharest.
In 2008 he was awarded the Diploma of Excellence from the Ministry of Education and Research within the program “the Olympics of the Romanian School” for the teaching activity.
