LÖRINCZI György

Born on March 8, 1956 in Viforoasa (Mures), György Lörinczi began his guitar studies at the age of 18. He participated to some of the earliest editions of Sinaia Guitar Festival, where he receives “Honourable Mention” in 1984. Being also a jazz enthusiast, he was awarded the “Promotion Diploma” of Sibiu Jazz Festival, in 1984.

He studied and practiced geology until 1991, when, after several visits to Belgium and France, he decides to study lutes and their construction. In 2004 György Löinczi participated to Jonathan Edwards Lute SummerClasses in Gruyères (France). He received professional recognition from luthiers like Jonathan Rubin (Switzerland), Lieven Misschaert (Belgium), Xavier Cauhépé (France) or István Kónya (Hungary).

György Lörinczi makes early plucked string instruments, including a large range of Lutes, Vihuelas, Theorbos and Baroque and Renaissance Guitars. He is a member of the Lute Society (England) and, beginning with 1995, he teaches classical guitar in Targu Mures Art School
