Caius Hera

Musician, teacher and multi-instrumentalist

Caius Hera is one of the very few early music representatives from Romania. He is the only lute player from Romania who studied in professional based school for early music. In 1999 he obtain his diploma as a graphic-designer in The Fine Arts School in Timisoara/Romania. In the same year he started to study classical guitar as a self-teaching and a few months from that point (after a few private lessons with a local teacher) he entered the Music Faculty of Timisoara. In 2005 he obtain the diploma as a music teacher and guitar player/teacher. In the period from 2000-2005 Caius Hera has been very active as a choir singer and made several tours in different countries in Europe with different ensembles. In the same time he was constantly performing instrumental music together with a private baroque ensemble in Timisoara. From 2005 he started to study lute instruments as self-teaching. In 2006 he attended several master-classes in different countries held by the leading lutenist of that times. From 2007 he went to Switzerland in Basel where he studied lute with master Hopkinson Smith in Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In the same year he started several collaborations with different early music ensembles covering a huge range of music from medieval times until late baroque. In present times Caius Hera is teaching classical guitar and music in Music School of Lugoj/Romania and he leads several projects of early music including solo lute recitals and collaborations with different musicians. From 2010 Caius Hera started to collaborate with baroque singer Judit Andrejszki from Budapest/Hungary and together they made several concerts in Romania and Hungary. In 2011 Caius Hera collaborates with Pal Nemeth and Savaria Baroque Orchestra in the production of Handel’s oratorio called Semele performed in MUPA (Budapest) and in the same year Caius Hera and Judit Andrejszki togheter with other musicians made a recording of Marta Sebestyen Christmas Music.
