Regulation of the Young guitarists competition

The registrations will be open soon.

The guitar contest will include 3 age categories:
A) participants that were born after April 20th, 2000
B) participants that were born after April 20th, 1997
C) participants that were born after April 20th, 1993 or participants that were born before April 20th and are still high school students

• For category A) the contest programs will be freely chosen and will last for a maximum of 10 minutes;
• For category B) the contest programs will last for a maximum of 15 minutes and will include minimum two musical pieces from minimum two various ages of creation;
• For category C) the contest programs will last for a maximum of 20 minutes and will include minimum three musical pieces from minimum three various ages of creation;

The contestants may participate both in the competition of their age Category and in the competition of the next age Category; in this case, the contestants will pay the participation fee for both Categories. The “length of the program” (or “the program’s duration”) is the time used on the stage by the contestant. The contestant will be interrupted by the Secretary of the jury, at the request of the President of the jury, if the length of the contestant’s program will exceed by more than one minute the total time specified by the Regulations. By applying to enter the competition, competitors shall assume responsibility for compliance with competition rules. The competitor’s succession in the contest will be determined in advance by the organizers, according to the master class schedule for each participant.

The jury’s decisions are final.


Prizes for the Young guitarists competition:

The Jury has the right to select some of the best contestants of the Young Guitar Competition and offer them the chance to play before the concerts of important invited guests during the next Terra Siculorum International Classical Guitar Festival. Transilvania Guitar Association offers two stipends for the winners of the B and C competitions’ categories, which provide full price reduction for competition and master class fees and free access to all the conferences and recitals in the Transilvania International Guitar Festival, Cluj Napoca, Romania, August 2012.

The Harmonia Cordis Association, Romanian Guitar Foundation, and Transilvania Guitar Association will also award special prizes.
