GRIFFITHS Lucy
Much in demand as a conductor of orchestras and choirs throughout the UK and abroad, Lucy Griffiths is Assistant Director of Music at the University of Warwick, England, and a visiting tutor in Conducting and Choral Leadership at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Wales. She is Musical Director of the choirs of Christie’s and Emap, and a regular conductor at Cranleigh Choral Week. Lucy’s work as a Musical Director and Education Specialist takes her all over the UK; recent work includes projects with Welsh National Opera, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Sing Up, Opera North, English Touring Opera and English National Opera. Former posts include Musical Director of the Training Choirs of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
After studying for her undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Bristol, in the UK, and McGill University, in Canada, Lucy went on to work as a Lecturer in Music at Portsmouth University before being awarded the prestigious sinfonia ViVA conducting scholarship. This allowed her to complete her masters in conducting at Birmingham Conservatoire, where she was twice awarded the Michael Beech conducting prize.
