Cătălin ȘTEFĂNESCU-PĂTRAȘCU was born in October 12, 1971, in Bucharest. He took his musical training at "George Enescu" Music Academy in Iași, Romania (classical guitar, 1991-1996) and at National University of Music Bucharest (composition, 2002-2006). In 2008 he receives the title of Doctor in Music, his research being focused on the performance of Baroque and Renaissance music on classical guitar. In 1990 he wins the Grand Prize of Sinaia International Guitar Festival, and beginning with 1996 he is a Honorary Member of Romanian Guitar Foundation. Cătălin Ștefănescu-Pătrașcu is now an associate professor of Classical Guitar in the National University of Music Bucharest. He is also a member of Imago Mundi Ensemble, ensemble who propose an original view on romanian traditional music. As a composer, Cătălin Ștefănescu-Pătrașcu has many works for solo guitar (5 Suites, Tarantella, Ostinato, The Mosquito etc.), chamber music with guitar (Sonata for guitar duo, Tertine si catrene for guitar trio, Sonatine for flute and guitar, music for Imago Mundi Ensemble), 2 guitar concertos and symphonic music (Lamento for orchestra, Serenata for chamber orchestra). He is a member of the Union of Romanian Composers and Musicologists (UCMR).
