Constantin ANDREI

Constantin ANDREI is a graduate of the Academy of Arts ”George Enescu” of Iași, class of M. Babi, part of the first class (1995) of university graduates with a major in classical guitar from Romania. He teaches classical guitar at the Music Academy ”Gheorghe Dima” in Cluj-Napoca and Music Faculty in Piatra Neamț.

He participated in most editions of the International Festival of Classical Guitar Sinaia, where he won numerous awards. In May 1990 he was invited to participate in International Festival ”Musical Spring” in Prague, where he performs in two recitals. In the same year he is awarded the First Prize at the first Classical Guitar Festival in Costinești.

Constantin Andrei held numerous solo recitals, and also duo recitals (guitar-violin and guitar-flute), and since 2000 he is a member of the Guitar Trio Andrei. His name is linked to the absolute first auditions of the Concerto for guitar and orchestra by Dumitru Capoianu, presented first in Târgu-Mureș and conducted by Horia Andreescu, and then under the conductors Hilarion Ionescu-Galați, Petre Sbârcea,  Modest Cichirdan and Robert Houlihan.

He recorded more than 15 albums with Radio Bucharest, Radio Cluj, Radio Iași, TVR, Electrecord and Alpha Publishing, both as soloist and in Trio Andrei. In 2006 he founded Transilvania Guitar Association in Cluj-Napoca, and since 2004 he is the director of Transilvania International Guitar Festival. Constantin Andrei is regularly invited to juries and master classes of national and international festivals.
